Rihanna has a series of movies coming out soon, including a role in the upcoming female version of Ocean’s Eleven, titled Ocean’s Eight, and today (November 10th) fans can see her in the new trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Rihanna’s character is supposed to be an alien stripper who works at a bar run by Ethan Hawke’s character. She appears in the trailer for just a moment at the 1:17 mark. In the brief snippet, she approaches Valerian (Dane DeHaan), who appears to be at her place of employment. Rihanna wears a sleeveless tuxedo costume, but when she removes her bowler hat she transitions from the more masculine ensemble into a Marilyn Monroe-type of seductress with a shimmering silver dress and blonde hair.
The film stars DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, who are sent to investigate a galactic empire and battle aliens along the way. Directed by Luc Besson, famous for The Fifth Element and other films, Valerian hits theaters in July 2017.

No, this is a temptation for the teaser trailer drop on Thursday of next summer’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets — a new sci-fi extravaganza in which the the singing icon, 28, has a flamboyant supporting role.
Dressed in a 1920s flapper getup (merely one of several personas she inhabits in the film) Rihanna’s segue into acting is more than a flirtation. She also has upcoming turns as the Janet Leigh character on Bates Motel and as one of Ocean’s 8, but filmmaker Luc Besson was reaching for the stars when he dreamed of her appearing with Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne (who star as intergalactic cops and lovers) in his $180 million epic.
“Rihanna was my first wish,” says the Lucy and The Fifth Element director. “First, because of her voice and the way she smiles and looks and how she expresses herself. Second, because you know she won’t be intimidated on the set. She plays stadiums with 100,000 people. You know that girl isn’t shy about the camera and the crew and all this.”
Rihanna jumped on board, and her 20-plus minutes in the movie promise many surprises. “She was very direct with me,” Besson tells EW. “She said ‘Luc, I want to learn, I want to work. Just let me do it.’ And I must say that she was a great partner and did everything I asked,” Besson says, adding with a laugh, “And believe me — I asked too much.”

The Fenty Puma Creeper was the only choice for the 2016 Shoe of the Year: The sought-after honor will be presented at the 30th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York on Nov. 29.
“In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined an honor like Shoe of the Year,” Rihanna told FN. “It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper.”
FN selects the shoe of the year based on retail sales, consumer feedback, social media prowess and overall buzz. The award has been handed out just three times: Kanye West took it home last year and accepted it in person with a heartfelt and funny 20-minute speech about his fashion rise and hit Yeezy Boost 350 sneaker with Adidas. In 2014, tennis legend Stan Smith was on hand to accept the prize for his own hot signature shoe with Adidas.
“Shoe of the Year is the most coveted award because it truly reflects industry dominance,” said Michael Atmore, FN’s editorial director. “Like Stan Smith and Kanye West, Rihanna made a statement shoe that drove global excitement and generated huge sales. Rihanna and Puma pushed the market in a new direction with an overnight sensation that has real legs.”
